The model was used along with the design process for my main project, which is related with flooding and a museum for future landscapes.
The choice of materials is related with such water related processes and the colors to increase the impact of the resin colour.
The digital model was made in rhino using contour patch, extrude, boolean difference, etc.
The base to CNC machine was also created in Rhino by using the mesh and union mesh commands.
The base was sanded and sealed in order to create a smooth surface.
Was then painted white.
Due to be fact the workshop was extremely busy I have decided to hand craft most of the model and rely less in the machines.
The model was then brought together
Repainted and sealed.
A few tests to make sure that the pigment used in the resin as correct.
Was then time to create a mold for the resin, which was insulated with silicon to avoid any resin leakage
In order to tick all the boxes in the brief, the kayaks were created in Rhino which were 3d printed along with people.
The resin was poured in 3 stages with a waiting of an hour in between them.
The resin was left to cure for 24h and was them polished.
The model was then photographed.
